recognition plaque thanking him
and Sam’s Club for sponsoring
the race.
Happy $$
-Brent for having the chance to
be best main in a wedding again
and perhaps having the chance to
redeem himself for past
performances in this role?
-Larry thanked Balt. County
taxpayers for his next
“conference”
-George- asked Larry to take him
too
-Cal- for the Catonsville Times
race coverage
-George- for the ravens
-Bruce V- a silent happy dollar?
Surely he must have unloaded
another pet by now
Guest speaker
Miles Hill from BGE discussed
the BGE peak rewards program and
other ways to save money on
energy usage. It was a fine
presentation about their new
thermostats can cycle on and off
during peak usage hours which
are typically 1-6 pm. By
participating in the program,
homeowners can save up to $25
dollars per month plus can get a
free $300.00 programmable touch
screen t-stat which can be
programmed online from a
computer. Having a programmable
thermostat will save additional
money too. If your house has 2
zone a/c, you can participate
twice. There are different
levels of participation and
Miles noted that last summer,
BGE never even initiated the
cycling process so participating
homeowners really benefited.
Miles also talked about other
BGE programs such as a quick
energy audit which only costs
$40 but is free if you agree to
adopt at least three of their
suggestions. Comprehensive
energy audits are also available
from BGE. He also discussed a
sort of cash for clunker
appliance program to help people
afford new appliances that are
energy-star rated. He discussed
“vampire electricity” usage
which is when an unused
electrical outlet can cause
energy use. Homeowners can save
money simply by using
child-proofing outlet covers. He
also discussed “smart” surge
protectors which completely shut
off energy to appliances that
are not in use. Apparently, a
toaster plugged in that is not
in use, still draws energy.
Next week District Governor.
Paul Frey will be visiting so
please make an effort to be
present for the meeting.
We had a good turnout today with
16 members present and Alan was
also present. See you all next
week.

District Governor Paul Frey

us today. He talked about
becoming a “Rotary hero” which
is to “give life to something
bigger than yourself”.
He gave is a brief bio and then
spoke about the District 7620
Strategic Plan. It consists of 5
prongs and he encouraged each of
us to:
1. Take Risks
2. Respect others- see value in
the other person
3. Support the Rotary Foundation
as a club and as individuals
4. Support Polio Plus as a club
by giving $1k for each of the
next 3 years. Collectively,
Rotary has raised over $800
million dollars and we are close
to wiping it out. There were
about 400 cases in 4 countries

survey were discussed and the
Board has recommended that we
