Art Spectacular
lauded by Area Mayors!
Art Spectacular Show
and auction opened at The Great Frame Up shop in
Birkdale on Saturday September 20 with John
Woods, Mayor of Davidson and Jill Swain, Mayor
of Huntersville in attendance. The show
organized by the Rotary Club of Lake Norman
Huntersville (www.lakenormanrotary.com)
and Lake Norman Arts League (www.lknart.org)
to benefit Hope House and Lake Norman Free
Clinic had a total of 107 entries. Juror, Tom
Stanley, Chair of the Department of Fine Arts at
Winthrop University and Director of Winthrop
University Galleries chose 20 pieces for the
exhibition with a wooden Ambrosia Maple Vase by
David Kaylor receiving the first prize. As a
part of the Art Spectacular, there was also a
contest to create a Poster for the anniversary
event where entries were received from the
students and members of Art Institute of
Ashville. The winning Poster entry was also
displayed at the exhibition.
Chris Jones,
President of the Rotary Club and Arvind Patil,
Chairperson of the Art Spectacular welcomed both
Mayors. Huntersville Mayor Jill Swain lauded
the objective of showcasing the Lake Norman Area
artists and creating an occasion to celebrate
the area art and artists, while Davidson Mayor
John Woods spoke passionately about the
wonderful development of Arts in the Lake Norman
area.
The exhibition will
stay open for viewing and silent bidding at the
Birkdale location until October 12. Final sale
and disposition of these 20 pieces will occur at
the Rotary Club’s Tenth Wine Spectacular at 7 pm
on October 18 at Northstone Country Club.
The Rotary Club of
Lake Norman-Huntersville, established in 1998,
is celebrating its 10th Anniversary
this year. The Club holds breakfast meetings
weekly at Northstone Country Club in

Three Area Mayors to Open
the Art Spectacular!
The 1st
Annual Art Spectacular Show & Auction,
benefiting Hope House and Lake Norman Clinic
will be opened by the three Mayors of the Lake
Norman area on Saturday September 20, at 6 pm at
the Great Frame Up shop in the Birkdale
Village. John Woods, Mayor of Davidson, Jill
Swain, Mayor of Huntersville, and Jeff Tarte,
Mayor of Cornelius have graciously agreed to
open this show, organized by Lake Norman
–Huntersville Rotary Club
(www.lakenormanrotary.com) and Lake Norman Arts
League (www.lknart.org) as a Celebration of Lake
Norman Area Artists. Everybody is welcome for
the opening ceremony, when wine and snacks will
be served.
A record 107 entries
were received for the show from the area artists
and the juror, Tom Stanley, Chair of the
Department of Fine Arts at Winthrop University
and Director of Winthrop University Galleries,
has chosen 20 pieces. These will be displayed
and be available for silent bidding at the Great
Frame Up shop in Birkdale village from September
20 to October 12 during the business hours.
Final sale and disposition will occur at the
Rotary Club’s Wine Spectacular at 7 pm on
October 18 at Northstone Country Club. A lathed
wooden Ambrosia Maple Vase by David Kaylor
received the first prize and will be on the live
auction at this event.

Lake Norman
Charity Art Show at Birkdale Village.
The Rotary Club of Lake Norman
Huntersville (www.lakenormanrotary.com) is
happy to announce their 1st Annual
Art Spectacular Show & Auction, benefiting Hope
House and Lake Norman Clinic. The Art Show will
be held from September 20 to October 18 at
Birkdale Village. The Rotary Club of Lake
Norman Huntersville and
Lake Norman Art League
have joined together to create this exhibit
featuring both 2 and 3 dimensional
artworks. Tom Stanley,
Chair of the Department of
Fine Arts at Winthrop University and
Director Winthrop University Galleries will
serve as Juror in selecting works from the
entries submitted to Lake
Norman League’s annual fall 2008 Exhibit.

Fall Exhibit and Rotary’s
1st Annual Art Spectacular Show &

There
will be a contest to create a poster for the
anniversary event. Students and
members of the Arts Institute from Asheville will
participate in this contest. Exhibition of
works selected by the Juror, and the entries for
the Poster Contest will be available for viewing

The opening reception is at 6pm on September 20.

location, until October 12. Final sale and
